Sacrament of Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism was unquestionably instituted by Christ. Jesus commanded his Disciples to baptize as found in Matthew 28:19 (NJB):

"Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"

Christ also tells us in John 3:5 (NJB):

"In all truth I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born through water and the Spirit"

If you wish to look into the possibility of Baptism please contact the Parish Priest.

Sacrament of the Eucharist

If you have reached the age of 8 and have been baptised within the Catholic Church you are eligible to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist, this is also known as Holy Communion. This is the Divine practice our Lord, Jesus Christ instituted. He told us in John 6:51 (NJB):

"I am the living bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever; and the bread that I shall give is my flesh, for the life of the world."

If you wish to look into the possibility of Holy Communion please contact the Parish Priest.

Sacrament of the Eucharist

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Penance/Confession) is where the faithful confess their sins and in return obtain divine mercy and are reconciled with the community of the Church. We can find this in James 5:16 (NJB):

"So confess your sins to one another"

Also, we find further evidence of this act in John 20:23 (NJB):

"If you forgive anyone's sins, they are forgiven; if you retain anyone's sins, they are retained"

Sacraments

The Roman Catholic teaching is that there are seven sacraments that Christ instituted and entrusted to the Church. Sacraments are visible rituals that Catholics see as signs of God's presence and effective channels of God's grace to all those who receive them with the proper disposition.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Confirmation is a Sacrament where the Holy Ghost is given to those who have already been baptised in order to make them strong and perfects Christians and soldiers of Jesus Christ. We see Confirmation in the Acts of the Apostles 8:14-17 (NJB):

"When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, and they went down there and prayed for them to receive the Holy Spirit, for as yet he had not come down on any of them: they had only been baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit."

If you have been baptised and are at the age of 12 and above please contact the Parish Priest.

Sacrament of Marriage

Jesus speaks of Marriage in Matthew 19:4-6 (NJB):

"Have you not read that the Creator from the beginning made them male and female, and that he said: This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife, and the two become one flesh? They are no longer two, therefore, but one flesh. So then, what God has united, human beings must not divide."

It is clear that marriage is a lifelong commitment here on Earth. If you are thinking of Marriage for you and your partner please contact the Parish Priest.

Sacrament of the Sick

This Sacrament is highly efficacious for our spiritual well-being. The nature of this Sacrament is to forgive sins and to restore health in accordance with God's design.

If in hospital, give your religious denomination to ensure a visit by the Priest. If at home and the assistance of the priest is required for the above purposes please contact the Parish Priest.

Holy Orders is the sacrament were a man is made a bishop, a priest or a deacon resulting in a truer image of Christ.
